Object – professional training of prospective teachers in higher pedagogical educational institutions during the second half of XX century; the aim – to systematize theoretical ideas and generalize the experience of business role-plays usage in the professional training of prospective teachers in higher pedagogical educational institutions during the second half of XX century in order to creatively use the acquired experience; methods – historic-pedagogical, theoretical, system-structural, problem and goal-oriented, comparative, retrospective; novelty – the research has been the first to provide an analysis of theory and practice of business role-plays usage in the professional training of prospective teachers during the second half of XX century; the contribution of the prominent scholars to the theoretical elaboration of the ideas dealing with business role-plays usage in institutions of higher learning has been characterized; the stages in the development of ideas of business role-plays usage in the professional training of prospective teachers during the second half of XX century have been determined and theoretically substantiated; the preconditions for the development of the ideas of business role-plays usage in the professional training of prospective teachers have been specified; theoretical ideas providing for the classification of business role-plays have acquired further study; results – theoretical and practical findings of the research and factual data have been incorporated in teaching “Pedagogy”, “History of Pedagogy”, “Foundations of Pedagogical Art” in Kharkiv G.S.Skovoroda National Pedagogical University. 12 unknown archival documents and materials of domestic periodicals allowing for deepening the knowledge about the development of theory and practice of business role-plays usage in the professional training of prospective teachers have been introduced for scientific study; field – pedagogy.
