Essay

The thesis focuses on studying the characteristic features of Mykola Lukash's as a translator of poetry, which constitute a part of the Ukrainian literary polysystem. The "interlanguage markers" were identified as the dominants of M.Lukash's individual translator's style and analysed based upon his translations of German classical literary works, namely the ballads by F.Sсhiller. Furthermore the place of M.Lukash's poetry translations was determined within the "third space of enunciation" concept. A comparative translation analysis was carried out based upon the "Faust" tragedy by J.W.Goethe and its translation by M.Lukash, which made it possible to describe the characteristic features of the poetry translation method on prosodical, morphological, lexical, syntactic, semantic and stylistic language levels. The place of literary translations by M.Lukash in the Ukrainian national literature polysystem was determined.
