Gomon N. Reproduction of personification in Spanish-Ukrainian translation.

The thesis is focused on the problems of reproduction of personification in translation from Spanish into Ukrainian. Linguistic and literary aspects of personification аre analyzed and the features relevant for the translation аre emphasized. The aspect of personification specific for translation studies is defined. The dual nature of personification as the object of translation studies research is proved: personification as a stylistic technique and personification as the means of sentence structuring. The problems of reproduction of personification as a stylistic technique that underlies the image are considered. In particular, the reproduction of the grammatical and semantic structures of personification in translation, as well as its stylistic effect and functional aspects is analyzed. Translation transformations used for reproduction of the stylistically neutral personification as the means of Spanish sentence structuring are studied. The dependence of transformations on the sentence semantics and the lexical and semantic compatibility is proved. The sentences with the personificator as a part of speech which contains in its lexical meaning the predicative sign are also the subject of consideration. It allows to expand the definition of personification as the means of sentence structuring.
