Essay

The thesis deals with the investigating of the verbal suffixal word-formation in Present-day Spanish with the using of integrative methods of analysis of derivative-semantic categories. Taking into account the types of formative bases the word-building models of denominal and deadjectival verbs have been represented and motivation relations between the root-stem and the derived word have been reconstructed. The phonetic changes at semantic formation of verbs and the rules of mutual adaptation have been represented namely allomorphism, shortening. The nature, role, semantics and functions of suffixes -e-(a)-, -iz-(a)-, -ec-(e)-, -ific-(a)- and -а- in the word-building system of present-day Spanish have been identified. Common and divergent features of each of them are singled out on the cognitive-onomaseological ground. General view of the restrictions concerning and denominal verbs depending upon the formal features of the root-stem has been presented. Productivity of building deadjectival and denominal verbs on the ground of semantic criteria has been analysed as well. The level of their semantic coherence as well as restriction concerning their root-stem have been investigated.
