The object of investigation is the scientific and pedagogical heritage of the Ukrainian medical professionals of the 2nd half of the 20th century; the subject of investigation is the leading pedagogical ideas of the Ukrainian medical professionals and their professional experience in the higher medical educational establishments of Ukraine in the 2nd half of the 20th century; the aim of the investigation is to make a holistic scientific analysis and systematize the leading pedagogical ideas of the Ukrainian medical professionals of the second half of the 20th century with the purpose of using their progressive experience in the system of higher education of Ukraine;the methods of the scientific investigation: chronological and biographical methods of studying archive sources, bibliographic editions, scientific journals, that made it possible to analyze the peculiarities of foundation and development of medical education in Ukraine in the 2nd half of the 20th century; concrete- research methods of selecting, classifying and systematizing of the historical, pedagogical and medical literature aimed at revealing the content, forms and methods of organization of the teaching and professional activity in higher medical educational establishments of Ukraine in the 2nd half of the 20th century; comparative, statistic analysis and studying of documents (teaching plans, programs, textbooks, manuals) aimed at determining the peculiarities of didactic means of medical education of the period under review; studying of scientific and pedagogical achievements of the Ukrainian medical scientists of the 2nd half of the 20th century from the viewpoints of that period of time and of modern theory and practice of the higher school;the scientific novelty of the obtained results is that for the first time in the Ukrainian pedagogical history - the leading social and pedagogical tendencies of the development of the scientific and pedagogical thought, as well as the higher education of the investigated period are determined; the holistic analysis of the scientific and pedagogical heritage of the Ukrainian medical scientists of the 2nd half of the 20th century is carried out.
