Matytsin O. Art and aesthetic features of Ukrainian iconography XV - XVI century.

The dissertation is devoted to analysis of the phenomenon of Ukrainian iconography XV - XVI centuries, its artistic and aesthetic aspect. Analysis is performed in the context of the aesthetic categories of beauty and the sublime, the concepts of image, symbol, time, light, liturgical aesthetics, concepts theophany, hierophany and hierotopy that make up the artistic and aesthetic principles of the icon. They outline the practical implementation of sections devoted to the analysis of the symbolism of Ukrainian iconography XV - XVI centuries, its semiotic components, the place and role of Ukrainian icons XV - XVI centuries of sacred space in the structure of the Orthodox Church. Ukrainian icon of the XV - XVI centuries reflects the spiritual quest of art and philosophy of the Middle Ages, it embodied the idea of the actual religious art of Byzantium Palaeologus period, its philosophical and aesthetic concepts.
