The object of study is the development of the domestic educational theory and practice on family education in the 70s - 80s of the twentieth century; the topic of the study is the practice of educating children in the Boris and Elena Nikitins' family; the purpose is to identify and reveal the peculiarities of the content, forms, methods, techniques and means of education in the Nikitins' family, to show its alternativeness to the active state concept of family education, to reveal its innovation for the successful development of family education according to the historical perspective; methods: historical and pedagogical, theoretical, systematic and structural to systematize innovative theoretical ideas and summarize the experience of the theory and practice of family education in the 70s- 80s of the twentieth century; problem-target and comparative to analyze scientific and educational literature and materials of press and regulations of the study period; retrospective to identify the opportunities of the usage of innovative forms and methods of family education (70s - 80s of the twentieth century) under current conditions; method of teaching hermeneutics for modeling the Nikitins' family educational system; the method of scientific reconstruction of certain provisions of the Nikitins' educational views; method of interpretation and generalization of the processed materials to form conclusions; the scientific novelty and theoretical significance of the study is that for the first time in the thesis: the practice of educating children In the Nikitins' family in the context of teaching science 70s - 80s of the twentieth century is systematically analyzed, it evolved under the influence of social, economic, political, ideological, cultural and educational factors in the development of the state; the ways of creativity and independence of children in a particular model (the large family of the Soviet intelligentsia) family (early, natural, intellectual and physical development through co-creation and co-operation; love to children; the creation of pedagogically effective atmosphere in the family) are grounded; the features of the forms and methods of engaging children in personal family development (playing, exercising, hardening, artistic creativity, work with the book, the specific job duties of children in the family, own example of the parents, etc.).
