Essay

Based on the research of a considerable volume of academic literature, archived documents, archeographic materials, national and foreign museum funds, this is an attempt to theoretically substantiate and actualize a virtually-graphic reconstruction of the initial appearance of the iconostasis at the Assumption Church of Stavropygyisky Fraternity in Lviv. A comprehensive research of all available icons and carving elements related to the museum and church heritage is done. The theological-dogmatic program is identified. Art review of iconography particularities of the whole Assumption iconostasis tiers within the context of the Ukrainian high iconostasis evolution of the first half of the XVII century is conducted. Particularities of the artistic-stylistic manner of monument’s masters are revealed. The fundamental tendencies of the Ukrainian high iconostasis genesis of the first half of the XVII of century are examined. Reasons for the origin of passion rank in the Ukrainian high iconostasis are determined. The reasons for the influence of the acathistus on the formation of the additional register in the first half of XVII century Ukrainian high iconostasis are examined. The stylistic peculiarities of the icons in the ensemble of iconostasis by F. Senkovych and M. Petrakhnovych (Morokhovsky) are defined.
