Essay

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of the creative legacy of Ivan Trush (1869 - 1941) - famous Ukrainian painter, aesthetics, art theorist, literary critic, essayist and public figure. The artistic heritage of the artist is seen on the background analysis of the socio-political situation in Galicia, which is on the edge of 19th - 20th centuries was part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Under the influence of "Spring of Nations" (1848), the defeat of Austria in the Franco-Italian-Austrian (1859) and Prussian (1866) wars, national controversy intensified inside monarchy, and Poles were entitled to "ownership" of Galician lands.
