This thesis focuses on the structural, semantic and pragmatic study of multiple nomination in contemporary French fiction. The research specifies the notion of "multiple nomination", describes the invariant construction of this phenomenon and distinguishes it from other patterns containing nominative repetition (apposition, enumeration, comparison with the conjunction comme). A methodology for the complex analysis of the structure, semantics and pragmatics of multiple nomination in contemporary French fiction has been elaborated; a typology of the corresponding constructions has been established and their pragmatic characteristics have been elucidated.
