The dissertation deals with the development of theoretical and methodological bases and practical recommendations for productive employment of the population in conditions of economy structural transformation. The paper reveals the essence and the main criteria of productive employment. The stimulants and deterrents of productive employment have been classified. The methodological approaches to the construction of a modern model of productive employment are defined. Methodologi-cal framework for the evaluation of employment from the perspective of productivity is worked out. The dynamic changes of proportions of employment have been investigated and integrated evaluation of their productivity implemented. Conceptual bases of the mechanism of providing productive employment and the main directions of its improvement are discussed. Methodological basis of forecasting the prospects for productive employment and the appropriate projections are suggested. The con-ceptual basis for the formation of strategy of productive employment of the popu-lation in Ukraine, which is adequate to current socio-economic conditions, is given.
