This thesis presents the theoretical and experimental grounds for appropriateness in developing multi-purpose medicines which contain non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents and venotrophic components. This preparation may be used in topical therapy for inflammatory conditions of joints and venous insufficiency, comorbid pathologies of joints and veins, especially in elderly persons. The research has studied the spectrum of pharmacodynamics of original domestic multi-purpose gel “Algozan” which is determined by pharmacodynamic synergism of acting agents as diclofenac and extraction of buckeye (Aesculus) seeds. This medicine possesses pronounced anti-exudative and analgesic action as well as venoprotective and anti-trombotic properties. The thesis has also asserted the therapeutic efficiency of the gel in modeled pathology of joints (adjuvant-induced arthritis) and venous pathology (modeled trombophlebitis), which is provided with versatile actions produced by the medicine upon the pathogenesis of the diseases. The gel “Algozan” has been proven to be safe applied by any routs of administration: by the index of lethal dose 50 this medicine belongs to the class of mainly non-toxic substances, it does not produce irritation of the skin and mucosa when administered topically and has no sensitized and immunotoxic effects.
