Pletenetska Y. English-Speaking Films Small Syntax and its Rendering into Ukrainian

The thesis is an in-depth research of the dubbed American film texts small syntax on the basis of the comparative lingo-syntactic and stylistic analyses of the original film texts and their Ukrainian translations. Structural classification of the English-speaking films small syntax models and their translation equivalents according to the morphological expression of the main word and the structure has been proposed and described. Their productivity levels have been specified. The main methods and techniques of the small syntax translation in the dubbed versions of American feature films and their frequency characteristics have been compared, the reasons, varieties and conditions of the transformations usage have been identified. The translation peculiarities and dependence of the small syntax units in general, and metaphorical word combinations, jargons, slangs, pejorative vocabulary, terminological word combinations in particular, from the main principles of the dubbed film translation, while using modern American films and their dubbed Ukrainian versions, have been considered. The specific character and regularities of this kind of audio-medial texts have been clarified.7452
