Object: the development of penal institutions for minors in Ukraine ; goal: to organize theoretical ideas and generalize the experience of development of penal institutions for minors in Ukraine in the 20- 30s of the twentieth century. to determine the feasibility of using advanced conceptual positions in the theory and practice of contemporary social and educational work; methods : historical and pedagogical, theoretical and systematic and structured , problem- targeted and comparative , comparative- historical, logical and chronological analysis, retrospective, of organizing and generalization, study papers , reports, government and regional education, crime statistics data for the period 20 -30th years of XX ct. the crimes of minors; novelty: a comprehensive analysis based on obscure sources and scientific literature for the first time in certain chronological limits and found the features of the formation and development of foreign and domestic penal institutions for minors , structured and reasonable classification of penal institutions for minors in Ukraine the period general and special purpose reasonably stages and corresponding trends of penal institutions for minors in Ukraine for 20 -30 -is of XX century; results: study materials enrich social pedagogy conclusions about the development of the prison system for juvenile offenders, trends, policies, direction and content of the operation on each of the reasonable steps; branch of science - social pedagogy.
