This thesis focuses on the study of cognitive nature of proverbs with animalistic component in the modern Spanish language. A complex cognitive analysis of these proverbs has been carried out, and their semantic and cognitive classification based on the stem component has been elaborated. The research describes conceptual proverbial variants and singles out animalistic and anthropocentric concepts verbalized in the proverbs under study. Relations between the conceptual domains ANIMALS and HUMANS have been modeled, and a conceptual network of the domain ANIMALS has been constructed.
