Object: theory and practice of mercy up-bringing of young people in Ukraine in the 50s – 90s of the twentieth century; aim: organize theoretical ideas and identify the lessons of teenagers’ mercy up-bringing at school in Ukrainian educational thought of the second half of the twentieth century, to identify the possibilities of their creative use in the educational process of modern school; methods: general scientific, historical and structural, historical and genesis, historical and chronological, historical and comparative, predictive; novelty: the origins, the ideas and experience in teenagers’ mercy up-bringing in Ukrainian educational thought of the second half of the twentieth century are generalized, the stages of formation and development of ideas in teenagers’ mercy up-bringing in Ukrainian pedagogy in the second half of the twentieth century are grounded, the prospective for creative usage of progressive ideas and educationally valuable experience in teenagers’ mercy up-bringing in modern terms is outlined; results: conclusions and recommendations of the dissertation were introduced in the educational process of Pronozivka comprehensive school, Kyiv specialized school № 106; branch: general pedagogy and history of pedagogy
