The thesis focuses on determining the ways sound-semantic correlations of poetic works are manifested in translation, defining sound-colour correspondences as a peculiar aspect of the poetic sound symbolism and observing specifics of rendering sound-colour correspondences as phonostylistic means. The research provides a contrastive analysis of English romantic poetry and its Ukrainian translation with the focus on defining the adequacy of sound-colour correlations. The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of this kind. It consists of an introduction, two chapters, conclusions, a list of references and two appendices.
