Object - professional-pedagogical activity in institutions of higher education in Ukraine; the aim - to systematize the theoretical ideas and generalize the practice of evaluation of the quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity in Ukraine during the period under research on the basis of historical-pedagogical sources and archival documents study; methods - general scientific, historical, prognostic; novelty - the research is the first to determine the contribution of scholars to the development of theoretical ideas on the given problem which lies in the definition of the terms "assessment', "evaluation", "evaluation of quality", "evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity", in the substantiation of the methods of evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity; the stages in the development of the problem of evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity during the researched period are determined; the data concerning the practice of evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity in Ukraine are generalized; the specific aspects of methods and techniques of evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity of the researched period are analysed; the preconditions for the evaluation of quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity are specified; the aspects of the problem under research have undergone analysis at the state, regional and institutional levels; the materials that have not been used by other researchers are introduced for scientific study; results - the practice of evaluation of the quality of academics' professional-pedagogical activity in Ukraine has been generalized. The main ideas and conclusions of the research will be useful for further pedagogical researches, they will be useful for teaching History of Pedagogy, Higher Education Pedagogy and Bologna Process, Methodology of Pedagogical Research in institutes and universities and for running methodological seminars for the management staff in Education; field - pedagogy.
