Essay

The thesis by Vlasenko N.O. is devoted to pharmacological correction of disturbances of erythropoiesis and morphofunctional state of erythrocytes caused by extreme stimuli by prophylactic use of 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyrydine succinate (mexidol) at the dose of 100 mg/kg. Both under the acute blood loss and during acute immobilization stress, mexidol prevents the development of somatic markers of stress and limits oxidative stress in the erythrocytes and bone marrow. However, in the blood loss, the drug promotes erythropoiesis activation and decreases disturbances in red blood cells count, common hemoglobin and hematocrit, but in the immobilization stress, it prevents activation of erythropoiesis leading to maintenance of erythrocytes normohromia and normal iron level in blood serum.
