The object of research - the process of formation of educational activity in pupils of primary school; subject of research - the theory and practice of formation of educational activity in pupils of primary school in the 70th of XX century - at the beginning of the XXI century in Ukraine; the purpose of research - based on historical and pedagogical analysis to summarize the theoretical ideas and practical experience, to prove the scientific basis of the problem of formation of educational activity of younger pupils in the context of the modernization of primary education in Ukraine in the 70th of XX - beginning of XXI century; methods: theoretical, empirical, special scientific methods: chronological and bibliographic search; scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that - for the first time carried out a holistic theoretical analysis of the problem of formation of educational activity of younger pupils in a particular historical period, and disclosed the contribution of native educators and psychologists in the development of the problem; the pedagogical premises of origin and development of the problem; defined and grounded stages of development problems of formation of educational activity of elementary school pupils according to the process of modernization of educational content in the 70th of XX - beginning of XXI century: 1970-1983 - restructuring of the school, especially its grade school and awareness of the needs of teachers in organizing special activities students that would ensure the development of new mental structures junior pupils; 1984-1989 - to activate the attention of pedagogical science to the study of problems of formation of educational activity, the development of methods and techniques for the formation of each of its structural component; 1990-1999 - identifies the main directions of modernization of the education industry and developed a variety of approaches to the content of general secondary education; 2000 - nowadays - an integrated approach to the problem of learning activities as the basis for the formation and development of key competencies ability to independently learn activity-based, learner-oriented and competence-based approaches.
