Essay

The thesis research is devoted to the study of professional "Self-image" of the officer and discovering his relationship with career growth strategies and professional activity. The research results prove that professional "Self-image" and the process of its formation are of great concern in the process of becoming an officer. The professional "Self-image" and the level of its formation serve as the accelerator of positive personal and professional changes and act as a potential opportunity of professional activity expansion. It was empirically found that in the process of professional training the officer is subjected to significant changes in professional self-consciousness. The content-related differentiation of self-descriptions in question confirms that the subjective image of the officer's occupation is not sufficiently formed, and the elements of professional "Self-image" do not become the subject of perception and do not contribute to the enhancement of processes of his professional identity. According to the results of factorial analysis, the specific character of the relationship of professional "Self-image" and individual career growth strategies has been revealed. The distribution analysis of empirical indicators and criteria of professional and career development of the officers made it possible to distinguish three factors which, considering the structure and results of theoretical analysis of the problem, allowed to define the leading career strategies for each groups being studied - "subjective and personal", "professional" and "authorative strategy", as well as related behavior profiles and objectives in professional activity. It is shown that an important factor in the formation of the officer's career competence is the psychological follow-up of this process, which provides a comprehensive implementation of research and diagnostics, design and management functions.
