Essay

The thesis is dedicated to historical and pedagogical retrospection of intellectual-creative skills of pupils in primary schools in Ukraine during the second half of XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The author analyzed the historiography and the source base in the research. The essence of the following basic concepts of research has been defined: "intellect", "skills", "intellectual skills", "creativity", "creative skills", "intellectual-creative skills", "intellectual-creative skills of primary school pupils". Development of intellectual-creative skills of pupils in primary schools in Ukraine has been studied; the following periods have been determined: the first period (1958-1991) - the transformation of the Soviet education system, the second period (1991-2012) - the formation and development of education system in independent Ukraine. The content, the best forms, methods, techniques and means of intellectual-creative skills of primary school pupils were defined. Primary school teachers' pedagogical experience regarding intellectual-creative skills development was analyzed.
