Kis'mina K. Lexical and stylistic features of comic in sketches of Raymond Devos.

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of lexical and stylistic features in comic sketches of Raymond Devos. An integrated approach to the study of linguistic phenomena illuminates the sketch, which contributes to the creation of comic effect. The comic genre structure was formulated and its characteristics were defined. The pragmatic potential of stylistic figures was unlocked. The author of the thesis has identified lexical means which have contributed to the formation of puns. It is also proved that the main source of creating puns in sketches is polysemy, homonymy and paronymy. It was established that the comic effect is realized depending on the context. The study also justified and explained the role of repetition in the formation of comic in sketches. Repetitions create semantic surplus in the text that supplies a better understanding of intentions of the writer.
