Nichaienko I. The concept of BEAUTY in Spanish prose of the XIX - XX centuries and its reproduction in Ukrainian translation.

The thesis deals with the comprehensive analyses of strategies and techniques of verbal representation of the concept BELLEZA/BEAUTY in Spanish and appropriate strategies and techniques of its translation into Ukrainian. The problem arises from a diachronic aspect of the concept BEAUTY in the Spanish mental picture of the world. Perception and understanding of BEAUTY within the framework of cultural peculiarities and language means has changed under the influence of certain aesthetic, moral, religious and philosophical preferences and tastes. An artwork is a perfect illustration of the reflection of conceptual perception in the relevant social and cultural environment of particular period. The general understanding of the concept BELLEZA includes related concepts existing in consciousness of the subject of conceptualization and correlating with the feature BELLEZA. It depends primarily on the type of a subject of conceptualization: certain people, certain social group, particular individual or humanity in general. The essence of the concept BELLEZA consists in associative ties within such BELLEZA related concepts as HEALTH, YOUTH etc. The concept BELLEZA is defined not only by relationships with other concepts based on associations, but also manifests itself as opposition to the concept UGLINESS.
