Essay

The object of investigation is the development of county education in Ukraine in the second half of the 19th century; the subject of investigation is the pedagogical and educational activity of county activist Mykoly Oleksandrovycha Korfa; the aim of the investigation lies in the complete historico-pedagogical analysis of the pedagogical and educational activity of M.O. Korf in the context of the emergence and development of the counties in the South of Ukraine in the second half of the 19th century; the following methods were used in the process of investigation- general scientific - the analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization, regimentation, classification, comparison - have become the main means to study the diverse historico-pedagogical, archive sources, government documents that reflect the development of the county education of the South of Ukraine of the second half of the 19th century., different aspects of the public and pedagogical activity of M.O. Korf, his supporters and followers; historico-pedagogical - the historico-structural method provided the development of the structure of the investigation, the analysis of socio-historical conditions of the county development and its educational activity; personal biographical method was used to study the life of pedagogue, for the scientific reconstruction of his pedagogical views and activity; chronological method gave the opportunity to follow the history of the county education of the South of Ukraine in the second half of the 19th century, the formation of the pedagogical views of M.O. Korf, the evolution and practical realization of his pedagogical views in the pedagogical and educational activity, as well as to examine and analyse the attitude of scientists of different historical periods to the educational activity of M. Korf as a county activist; retrospective made it possible to select the factual material to reflect scientist's life and activity, his contribution to the development of county education, training of teachers; the scientific novelty of the received results lies in the fact that for the first time the complete analysis of the pedagogical and educational activity of M.O. Korf as a county activist of the second half of the 19th century has been carried on; the stages of the development of the problem of the pedagogical activity of M.O. Korf in the context of the development of counties of the South of Ukraine (second half of the 19th century) has been differentiated and grounded; the influence of the social and humanistic idea on the formation of the pedagogical views of M. Korf has been shown; the pedagogical activity of teachers-supporters and followers of the views of M. Korf of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century; the obscure facts of M.O. Korf's life and activity achieved further development and specification when investigating, namely: the participation in the work of county councils, the foundation of Sunday schools, the creation of the pedagogical control, the organization and conduction of teacher's conferences; the problem of the development of personality of teacher in the pedagogical heritage of M.O. Korf has been extended.
