Essay

The thesis is devoted to solving the problem of diabetes and cerebral ischemia neurological complications treatment efficiency increasing. On the basis of experimental investigation of the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (RAIL-1) antioxidant activity it was established reasonability of its use as the neuroprotective compound with antioxidant mechanism of action. The mechanisms of RAIL-1 antioxidant neuroprotective efficacy were evaluated using an integrated approach in diabetes and focal stroke models. It is established that RAIL-1 application resulted in thiol-dissolve system and rats’ brain antioxidant enzymes activity ratio stabilization, protein peroxidation and oxidation decrease that prevents structural and functional damage of the neurons after brain ischemia and prevents the postischemic neurological deficits development in rats. The RAIL-1 antioxidant, energotropic, apoptose-modelling and neuroprotective effects were firstly studied in diabetes and focal stroke models and their advantages over thiocetam were evaluated.
