Object - creative pedagogical and scientific ideas of V.Antonovych as an enlightener; subject of the research - scientific pedagogical teaching heritage of V.Antonovych; the aim of the research - having carried out the historic-pedagogical analysis to present the personality of V.Antonovych, find out and systematize his creative pedagogical ideas, summaries his teaching activity as an enlightener; research methods - historical-pedagogical analysis and synthesis (to distinguish initial points of the research - subject, object, aims, tasks); classification, systematization of archives and printed sources concerning the theme under research (to form the structure and deal with the level of the problem being investigated ); historical-structural (to form the structure of historical-pedagogical knowledge, its relevance to certain periods and dominant ideas); constructive genetic (to consider the transformation of historical-pedagogical events in XIX-XX centuries); personal bibliographical (to reconstruct pedagogical views of the scientist); cultural approach ( connected with his social environment, psychology of creative activity; "near-scientific" surroundings); historical-pedagogical scientism (connected with methodological problems of researching the scientist's outlook of as the generator of new national pedagogical ideas); biographical method (prevents from the mechanistic describing the scientist life but suggest the analysis of the structure of his way of life); the scientific novelty of the dissertation suggest for the first time in the history of pedagogy of our country the fundamental research of pedagogical heritage and scientific activity of V.A. as an enlightener; distinguished main factors forming his pedagogical views, proposed the periodization of the scientist's creative way; analyzed the content of his activity on forming educational units in Ukraine and the system of teaching the humanities in academic educational establishments; analyzed his scientific activity dealing with training of personnel of Ukrainian intelligentsia.
