Essay

The stylistic features of the Palaiologian Renaissance, late Gothic and Renaissance reminiscences were highlighted in the dissertation. The author defined the typology of Galician icons of St. George, XIV–XVI cc. and analyzed the iconographic features of sole images (found in the Deesis row of the iconostasis and the pair icons) as well as on the anecdotal visual works («The Miracle of the dragon», hagiographic cycles). It was established that the development of iconography and artistic-imaginative system of Galician icons of St. George were maintained with the principles of Byzantine and Kievan Rus’ traditions.
