Essay

The object of the research is multicultural education at Higher Educational Establishments in Germany; the subject of the research is special features and modern trends in the formation and development of multicultural education at Universities in Germany; the main aim of the research is to generalize the theoretical ideas and practical experience of implementation of multicultural education at Universities in Germany and lay the ground for the creative appliance of progressive ideas of the German experience in the home Pedagogic Studies; main methods of the research - theoretical methods include historical and pedagogical analysis of scientific works in philosophy, Pedagogics, Psychology, to theoretically ground the aspect of the development of multicultural education at Universities in Germany; the systematization of the scientific literature in Pedagogics and Psychology to prove the topicality of the chosen theme; and comparative analysis to compare the conditions under which pedagogical systems of Germany and Ukraine adopt the all European educational traditions. The Empirical methods of the research include critical study of historical, pedagogical scientific ideas to describe the content of multicultural education; and method of generalization and comparison of the factual information to characterize the modern multicultural education at German High School. The special scientific methods of the research include chronological method to analyze home and foreign pedagogical experience concerning the development of multicultural education at Universities in Germany and bibliographic method to study relevant to the theme materials in libraries and archives; the scientific novelty of the research is that the author is the first to give a thorough and overall theoretical analysis of the development of multicultural education in Germany in general and at German Universities in particular. The researcher has clarified the contribution of home and foreign pedagogues and psychologists to the matter under consideration. The dissertation distinguishes the stages of multicultural education development in Germany and analyses their dependence on economic, social and home and foreign policy factors. The author suggests the ways of the creative implementation of multicultural education in training teachers of a foreign language at Ukrainian Universities. The paper gives a better historical and pedagogical interpretation of the multicultural education development. The author describes the historical background of appearance of multicultural education at German Universities. The dissertation specifies the pedagogical interpretation of the content of multicultural education. The author further develops scientific and theoretical statements as to the influence of multicultural education on teaching and educational process at Ukrainian Universities (appropriateness of bilingual model of education, participation of students in different educational exchange programmes, carrying out an individual and collective scientific and research activity).
