The research is devoted to the topical problem of moral and aesthetic education of students with a focus made on moral and aesthetic ideals shaping by means of art. The author investigates the history and genesis of the concept of ideal in philosophy, psychology and pedagogics. The paper analyzes the components and peculiarities of the process of moral and aesthetic ideals shaping. The attention is also paid to the definition of the terms "moral and aesthetic ideals" as well as "moral and aesthetic ideals shaping". The author describes the essence of art through its functions and analyzes the potentialities of different art forms as for their pedagogical impacts. The paper presents theoretic grounds and experimental verification of pedagogical conditions of moral and aesthetic ideals shaping in students of classic university by means of art. The author presents educational program for moral and aesthetic ideals shaping in students by means of art within curricular and extracurricular activities.
