The object of research: the Orthodox Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy (1862-1917), in particular: the "Duhovnyj vestnik" (1862-1867), "Duhovnyj dnevnik" (1864-1867), "Har'kovskie eparhial'nye vedomosti" (1867- 1883), "Blagovest" (1883-1887), "Vera i razum" (1884-1917 gg.), "Cerkovnaja gazeta" (1906), "Revnitel'" (1911-1912), "Pastyr' i pastva" (1915-1918), the "Hram i shkola" (1917). The goal of the thesis is the implementation of a comprehensive analysis of the Orthodox Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy (1862-1917) and identification of features of display education and training issues on its pages. Methods: historical-genetic, historical and typological, historical and systematic, comparative methods, prosopography methods. Scientific novelty: for the first time: a complex study of the Orthodox Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy is made; a considerable body of archival documents was en-tered into a scientific use, as well as the materials of periodicals were actualized, some of which are a bibliographic rarity; based on the analysis of a wide range of historiographical sources, the stages of the Orthodox church periodicals studying are identified, as well as controversial and unexplored aspects of the topic; publications typologization of the Orthodox Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy is made; thoroughly investigated the discussion state of the problems of education and training on the pages of Orthodox Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy and the Church periodicals of Kharkiv Eparchy characterized as a way to consolidate the ideological position of the clergy in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries; updated: specific characters of Orthodox Church periodicals of the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century and information about publishers, editors and writers of church newspapers and magazines of Kharkiv Eparchy of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. Practical value: materials of the research can be used in carrying out further studies into the history of the Church periodicals in the educational process, in particular, during the preparation of lectures and seminars and special courses on the history of Ukraine, church history, journalism, education, science and culture.
