Object - music education development in Ukraine in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries; the aim - to analyze organizational and theoretical questions; to generalize the experience of music education development in Sloboda Ukraine in the concrete period for the use of progressive achievements in the modern educational conditions ; methods - general scientific, historical and predictive; novelty - for the first time: the entire historical and pedagogical research of the problem of music education development in Sloboda Ukraine in second half of the XIX - early XX centuries is realized in wide chronological frames; sociocultural preconditions of music education development in Sloboda Ukraine are characterized; stages of music education development with relation to the provision it with state program normative documents are defined and grounded; dynamics of numerical and qualitative growth in the region of the net of educational institutions is defined; transformation to the economical and cultural and educational fields of the region is revealed; the content and methods that contributed to the change of the aim, tasks and forms of music education were specified; ideas of progressive native public figures, pedagogues, artists of the past about the development of theoretical basis of musical education of children and the youth and substantial characteristics of professional music and music and pedagogical education of teachers got further development; results - theoretical theses and finding on music education development in Sloboda Ukraine in the second half of the XIX - XX centuries; on teaching singing and playing music pupils and students of different educational institutions of music education of future teachers and professional training performers, composers, arts critics; on popularization activity in the region; Theoretical theses and generalizes valuable pedagogical experience of the organization of music education in Sloboda Ukraine can be used in the content of courses and special courses 'History of pedagogy', 'Theory and methodology of music education' in higher pedagogical educational institutions of I-IV accreditation levels, in the content of graduated educational courses for teachers, in methodical seminars, while developing special course on historical and pedagogical, music and aesthetic disciplines, for writing of term, degree and master's theses in higher pedagogical educational institutions; field - pedagogy.
