Object - encouragement of educational authorities in the secondary education of Ukraine in the 20-90-s of the XX century; the aim - to generalize theoretical theses and the practical experience of encouragement of educational authorities in the secondary education of Ukraine in the 20-90-s of the XX century for the use of pedagogically valuable achievements in the system of the modern secondary education; methods - analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, generalization, modeling, conceptual and terminological, monographic, selective, genetic, chronological, prognostic; novelty - firstly, on the basis of the analysis of current legislation, archive sources and appropriate scientific-pedagogical literature the contribution of leading scientists and educational figures to the formation and the development of ideas about the problem of encouragement of educational authorities in the secondary education during the stated period is determined; stages are scientifically grounded; key trends of the problem's development of encouragement of educational authorities in the secondary education during the studied period are determined; the understanding of the socio-political, socio-economic and organizational-pedagogical factors of the formation of the domestic system of encouragement of educational authorities; forms and methods of stimulation in Ukraine got the further development; the essence of the concept of "encouragement of educational authorities in the secondary education" is clarified; results - theses, formulated in the course of the scientific research, and findings promote coherent reflection of features of the national system of secondary education and educational thought of the 20-90-s of the XX development. The study's results can be used for the improvement of modern secondary educational institutions' activity; in the process of increasing the level of educational authorities' professional competence; during the development of special courses and seminars; in the scientific-research activity of students, graduates and teachers; during the development of courses "Comparative Pedagogy", "General Pedagogy", "Management of Educational Institution"; in the process of composing manuals, textbooks, terms and master's works and methodological recommendations for pedagogical workers and educational authorities in the secondary education in particular; field - pedagogy.
