Essay

The thesis focuses on analyzing lexicographically the notion of marginality and researching into the verbal realization of its semantic components in French novels of the 20th century. The author has developed logical-semantic schemes of unfolding of the referents of marginality, defined the conceptual structure of the conceptual sphere of marginality (singling out two domains: marginal man and marginal environment) and the peculiarities of framal organization of its structural components (five basic frames proposed by S. Zhabotynska are taken as a basis), elaborated the conceptual interframe net of the concept sphere of marginality, proved that the semantic isotopy of marginality is formed by semantic connections between the lexemes and constitutes a basis for constructing and interpretation of the whole image of marginal man, marginal environment and marginality in general, specifying the linguistic means of realization of semantic isotopy (the emphasis is put on metaphorical manifestation of marginality, on symbolization and desymbolization).
