The dissertation is aimed at highlighting Mark Twain's individual style and its reproduction in Ukrainian translations in comparison with Russian and Polish. The dominant features of the writer's style are shown and the level description is made. It is determined that invariant features of his style are dialecticisms and idiomatic expressions. Strategies and tactics of Mark Twain's individual style in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish translations are researched. It is assumed that M.Zahirnia and N.Hrinchenko translated the language of American writer using domestication in their translations, using also such lexical transformations as: semantic development, contextual replacement, compensation, antonimic translation. V.Mytrofanov and I.Steshenko used method of contextual replacement, contextual transformation and compensation to reproduce Twain's style adequately. Ian Bilinski and M.Tarnovski used stylistic leveling. Key words: literary translation, Mark Twain, reproduction of writer's idiostyle, dominant feature of idiostyle, dialecticism, idiomatic expression, domestication, narration, standard language, transformation.
