The representative books by Ukrainian journalists published during 2010-2014 that use the basic methods and techniques of the "new journalism" as well as web-sites that contain materials of this type are the object of the research. The purpose of the research is to analyze the current state of the media discourse in Ukraine in the context of identifying new genre and stylistic tendencies and techniques of journalism; to identify the genesis and historical features of the "new journalism" in the Ukrainian media, to determine the practical significance of the studied style, its impact on the journalists' individual writing style and the evolution of the mass-media in general. The methods of research are the descriptive method, the analysis of media texts, content analysis, monitoring with predictive elements; historical and comparative, cultural and historical and biographical methods. The "new journalism" genesis, dynamics of its development, its characteristics and scope of functioning in Ukrainian media discourse is analyzed. It was established that the style of the "new journalism" is not only literary and journalistic phenomenon that arose at a certain time, but it is a dynamic literary and journalistic concept that passed certain stages of development under the influence of social and historical changes that took place in society. This feature is traced in the texts of both American and Ukrainian representatives of the "new journalism". The development of "new journalism" in Ukrainian media discourse; the main genres of the "new journalism" in which it manifests itself to a greater or lesser extent (artistic reportage, editorial and travelogues); Ukrainian peculiarities of the "new journalism"; the semantic and stylistic potentiality of the "new journalism", its depth, originality and demand on the media market are summarized.
