Essay

The work is devoted to research of prostate protection activity of fat-based and polyethylene oxide (PEO) based suppositories with extracts Serenoa repens, Cucurbita pepo, Urtica dioica. It was found that suppositories with phytoextracts in 600 mg/kg dosage (by the sum of extracts) exhibit pronounced prostate protection activity in three experimental models in male rats (turpentine prostatitis, criotraumatic prostatitis and sulpiride-induced prostate hyperplasia).Protective effect of suppositories with phytoextracts on the state of rat prostates in both models of prostatitis is exhibited in the inhibition of systemic inflammatory response, recovery of prooxidant/antioxidant balance, prevention of membrane destruction processes, prevention of inflammation, cardiovascular reactions and destruction in the dorsolateral part of the prostate glandular tissue (turpentine prostatitis), increasing of the actively functioning secretory units in the ventral part of prostate and reducing of local inflammatory response (criotraumatic prostatitis), normalization of the structural and functional condition of prostate and functional activity of sperm cells in rats, improving of androgen saturation of animal bodies.
