The thesis focuses on the comprehensive research of the creative personality of V. Myssyk as a translator. The integrated nature of the conducted analysis ensured the multi-layered consideration of the problem within the following perspectives: a) covering the initial methodological and theoretical positions for researching the creative personality of a translator; b) identifying the preconditions of Myssyk's worldview shaping; c) differentiating the motivational factors which stimulated Myssyk to polish his own translations; d) conducting Translation Studies text-oriented analysis of the originals and their translations provided by Myssyk and consequent differentiation of the major peculiarities of his translation conception; e) systematizing Myssyk's contribution into the Ukrainian aesthetic sphere. The thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusions, a list of references and an appendix. The first chapter discusses the procedure of researching a creative personality, which consequently considers his / her integrity into social, linguistic, and aesthetic contexts of the period of his / her creativity. A separate subchapter focuses on the cultural and aesthetic context along with the worldview as the determining counterparts of a translator's creative personality. In this respect, the chapter features the role of the aesthetic function of the literary translation during the 20th century in Ukraine - the period of Myssyk's activities. The thesis challenges the view that researching the creative personality of a translator presupposes the prior analysis of a translator's origin and childhood, literary, intellectual surrounding and society conditions, cultural and aesthetic values which shaped his / her worldview and set the basis for his / her working conception.
