Essay

It is first when it has been created a complete picture of easel painting portrait Kharkiv XX - XXI centuries as well as discovered his artistic and stylistic features. The main lines are classified as traditional ones, based on realism of Repin trend and alternative ones reflecting the artistic avant-garde lexical units. The technical and technological features of easel portrait in Kharkiv as well as changes of the plastic language under the influence of the historical and political events have been discovered. The resistant features of Kharkiv easel portrait as an original phenomenon in the Ukrainian painting based on a combination of the latest achievements and principles of Repin realistic portrait school have been identified.
