Essay

The thesis highlights the transformation of the artistic life of Kharkiv in the second half of the XX - XXI centuries. The influence of art and design education is determined; the role of the Kharkiv branch of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and underground trends in the art processes of the period have been denoted. The evolution of museum and exhibition activities and transformation of the art infrastructure have been traced. The social significance of collectors 'activity, their role in the artistic life of the city are highlighted. The influence of gallery movement on the development of curator institute have been proved. The key trends in the contemporary artistic life of Kharkiv have been pointed out with due regard for the socio-political changes in 2004-2015.
