Ostapets M. An experimental study of pharmacological activity of the Geranium Palustre herb dry extract

The purpose of scientific work was to investigate the hemostatic activity the Geranium Palustre herb dry extract, its effects in vitro on indicators of coagulant and anti-coagulant systems, in vivo – on time of bleeding under model pathology; to study the acute toxicity and possible complications in its long-term use. It was determined that the activation of the hemocoagulation phase I by the extract under study went through the activation of «internal» mechanism of blood clotting. Also extract under study accelerated the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin; it showed a moderate effect on the formation of stable clot and moderate antifibrinolytic activity. The Geranium Palustre herb dry extract accelerated the time bleeding from sword-cut of parenchymal organs. During 3-month introduction the Geranium Palustre herb dry extract does not lead to changes in the vital organs and doesn’t cause disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome.
