Object: social and educational activities in higher education in the second half of the twentieth century; objective: systematization of theoretical positions and summarize the experience of social and educational prevention of addictive behaviour of students of Ukraine in the studied period for the creative use of the achievements of the past in the present conditions of social development and education; methods: general (analysis of socio-educational, psychological, medical, educational materials, materials, periodicals, standard documentation, synthesis, classification, comparison and generalization of the teaching experience of the social and educational prevention of addictive behaviour of students of Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century, method of analysis of archival documents); historical (chronological, retrospective, historical and comparative); novelty: for the first time a complete analysis of the experience of social and educational prevention of addictive behaviour of students Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century is made; the stages of the process under study are defined and characterized; the meaning of ,,social-pedagogical prevention of addictive behaviour", forms and techniques of this process in the studied period, and the experience of social and educational prevention of addictive behaviour of students of Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century are summarized; further development of the acquired understanding of the organization of social and educational prevention of addictive behaviour of students with the experience of the second half of the twentieth century are revealed; the results of the study can be used in the educational process of higher education institutions, in the practice of teachers psychologists, social workers, parents, social service of the centers for families, children and youth, public organizations; in the service training for social workers, specialists in the services for families, children and youth; the research materials can serve as a basis for the further historical, pedagogical and educational research, different aspects of addictive behaviour of young people; branch: social pedagogy
