The object of study - the history of higher education in Germany of the XIX century; subject of research - the emergence and development of a new model of the University in Germany of the nineteenth century methods: General scientific - analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization, systematization, classification, comparison - became the main means of study of various historical and pedagogical sources, which investigated the background, principles, organizational principles and activities of the new University in Germany in the nineteenth century; historical and pedagogical: historical-structural method, provided the development of the structure of the study, the analysis of preconditions of emergence of a new University model in Germany in the XIX century; genetic gave the opportunity to trace the history of creation and activities of the University of Berlin, to analyse the concepts and projects that became the basis of a new model of University in Germany at the end of XVIII - early XIX century; a retrospective - did the selection of factual data for objective coverage of the establishment and institutional framework activities of the University of Berlin, analysis of content, methods, forms of education, rights and responsibilities of teachers and students; historical comparativistics (comparative) helped to identify the features of implementing the German model of the University in other countries of the world in the nineteenth century.
