Essay

The dissertation deals with the issue of state-patriotic education formation and development during the Second Polish Republic as an effective educational means of the youth of that time and today's youth that was systematically and comprehensively investigated for the first time in Ukraine and Poland. Through the detailed analysis of archival sources the periods of the patriotic education system in the interwar period were set in the research. On the base of the detailed study of Polish scientists' works there was proposed a new vision of state-patriotic education development during the dominance of sanation ideology. The author analyzed a significant amount of scientific literature, thesaurus, which is the basis of categorial-conceptual apparatus of the research. The basic concepts that provide a new semantic color to a definition "state-patriotic education" in all its represented variants: "state education", "public education", "civil-patriotic education", "civic and national education", "national public education" were characterised. The overview analysis of factual material relating to the XVII - XVIII centuries, when there was a collapse of the Polish state was done. The author also emphasized on the progressive actions of the Polish patriots who accelerated the recovery of national identity, offered effective educational ideas in the periods of rebellions and after them. Moreover, the content of national identity concept that was identified with the concept of "ethnic identity" and served as a driving factor for the theory and practice development of civic education during enslavement was disclosed. Another point of the research is educational reforms introduced by the Commission of Education - the first prototype of ministerial authority in the territory of Europe of that time.
