Vasylenko H. The Image of Ukraine in the English Translations (Case Study of Ukrainian Poetry of the Second Half of the XXth c. in English Translation)

The dissertation suggests a comprehensive study of the artistic reflection of the cultural concept Ukraine in the English poetic translations of Ukrainian lyrics. The research is based on the cultural paradigm and includes the interdisciplinary approach, linguistic cultural and cognitive aspects of comparative analysis. The cultural concept Ukraine is an axiological creation that involves the system of Ukrainian dominant values and has notion, value, and image constituent parts. The artistic reflection of Ukrainian dominant values is studied on the object, subject and expression levels of the image system in poetic translation. The work defines dominant features of the lyric genre; reveals the world-view role of cultural symbols in poetic translation; suggests the definition of image amphisymmetry in poetic translation.
