The thesis deals with exploring the structure and semantics of the fictional system of French folklore for children in the linguistic and semiotic aspect. The study describes the theoretical basis and elaborates complex methodology for examining linguistic and semiotic space of folklore texts; determines language means of verbalisation of animalistic and cosmogonic components of linguistic and semiotic space; identifies lexical units forming the lexical and semantic field of these components; defines basic principles of iconic coding at phono-semantic, lexico-stylistic and syntactic language levels, as well as the main types of tropes and lexical tools having the most iconic load; describes features of the French ethnos linguistic model of the world.
