Egorova O. Pharmacological study of the effect caused by polyphenolic medicinal drug «Elgacin» to inhibit age-related changes in rat male reproductive systems

The thesis is devoted to pharmacological study of the effect caused by polyphenolic medicinal drug «Elgacin» to inhibit age-related changes in rat male reproductive systems. It is established that «Elgacin» tablets in a dose of 12 mg/kg (1 mg/kg by active pharmaceutical ingredient) inhibit the age-related changes in the male reproductive system in the course of physiologic aging process and due to various model abnormalities: they increase fertility and fecundity of age-sensitive rats, show gonadotropic and prostate-protective effect, increase androgen abundance in organism. The prominent therapeutic efficiency of «Elgacin» tablets is identified based on the animal model of prostatitis induced by ligation of the prostate gland and hypofunction of the testis modeled by serotonin hydrochloride. It is testified that the length of the shielding effect under the impact of «Elgacin» tablets retains within two months. Thus, in view of the aforesaid, the optimal dosing regimen for the antioxidant drug is a one-month course every two months.
