Essay

The thesis focuses on investigating structural, semantic and pragmatic types of syntactic compression in the French fictional texts of the early 21th century. Theoretical basis has been described and complex methodology for examining syntactic compression in the fictional text has been elaborated. Such types of syntactic compression reproduction as non-verbal sentences, truncated constructions, zeugmatic structures and elliptical sentences have been determined. Pragmatic types of syntactically compressed constructions have been identified in dialogue and monologue fictional discourse. Basic principles and features of syntactic compression in the French fiction of the early 21th century have been defined.
