Essay

The thesis highlights social and cultural conditions of formation and development of regional educational associations in Transcarpathian region (second half of XIX - early XX century). The current study has analyzed and systematized historiography and source base on the study. It defines areas of activity, methods, forms and periods of education activities of regional educational communities in Transcarpathian region (1919-1944), the main directions and forms of their organizational activity. Regional pedagogicаl associations of Transcarpathian region (1919-1944) are classified into groups: scientific and educational societies, societies of structural departments of education, professional organizations of national minorities, societies based on political parties, associations established by religious communities, departments of state professional teachers' associations. The study shows and evaluates the influence of educational societies on the processes of civil society formation in Transcarpathian region. The article points out basic directions and forms of organization of regional educational communities in the field of education and school system of Transcarpathian region. It has been proved that the key objective of most influential organizations which were operating in the region in the period under study were educational and pedagogical work aimed at reforming the educational system in the Carpathian Ruthenia, character building of the younger generation on the basis of humanistic, moral and spiritual ideals, holding of formative and educational work among adults.
