Popov A. Pharmacological study of the combined nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory medication "Diclocor"

In the study, the new direction of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug development was determined. It involves combining NSAIDs with flavonols. We were first to conduct pharmacological study of "Diclocor", a capsulated combination of diclofenac sodium and quercetin, to explore possible advantages of its use in treatment of inflammatory and degenerative joint diseases. The study further explores anti-inflammatory activity of diclofenac and quercetin used as Diclocor and demonstrates their synergistic action on alterative, exudative and proliferative stages of inflammation. Moreover, analgesic activity of Diclocor was studied under the circumstances of induced pain reaction on the model of inflammatory hyperalgesia and spontaneous pain reaction on the model of acute gonarthritis. Improved analgesia was shown for Diclocor in comparison with diclofenac sodium. Lastly, the model of systemic steroid arthritis was used to explore chondroprotective properties of Diclocor. It was shown that the studied combination improves the course of this pathology by reducing apoptosis and inflammation. Moreover, Diclocor enhances regenerative potential of cartilage tissue.
